Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using SplitOrMergePDF (“the service”, “the site”), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We may change these terms; continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms where permitted by law.

2. Description of the service

SplitOrMergePDF provides free online tools to split PDF files by page range and to merge multiple PDFs into one. The service is offered “as is” and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, specific performance, or that results will meet any particular quality standard. You use the service at your own risk.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload content that you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of others.
• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, offensive, or that promotes violence, discrimination, or illegal activity.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, other users’ data, or any third-party systems.
• Use the service in a way that could overload, disrupt, or harm the service or others (e.g. automated bulk requests beyond normal use, denial-of-service).
• Resell or commercially exploit the service in a way that contradicts these terms without our consent.

We may suspend or terminate your access, without notice, if we believe you have breached these terms or for operational or legal reasons.

4. Limits

File size and count limits (e.g. maximum file size, number of files for merge, number of page ranges for split) are described on the site and in the FAQ. We may change these limits or suspend the service in whole or in part to prevent abuse, ensure availability, or for other operational reasons. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from such changes or suspension.

5. Your content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of the files you upload. By uploading, you grant us (and our processors) the limited right to process your files only as necessary to provide the split or merge service. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for any purpose other than fulfilling your request. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process the content you submit.

6. Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties (express or implied), including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted, or that results will be accurate or suitable for your needs. You use the service at your own risk.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we (and our affiliates, directors, employees, and suppliers) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve months before the claim (or, if nothing, zero). Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SplitOrMergePDF and its affiliates, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the service, your content, or your breach of these terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the service for any user or generally, with or without notice, for any reason (including breach of these terms, abuse, or operational need). Sections that by their nature should survive (e.g. disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law) will survive termination.

10. Changes to the terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will post the updated terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated via a notice on the site or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of the changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms, except where your consent is required by law. If you do not agree, you must stop using the service.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country give you the right to bring proceedings in your place of residence.

12. General

If any part of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not waive that right or provision. These terms (together with the Privacy Policy and any other referenced policies) constitute the entire agreement between you and SplitOrMergePDF regarding the service.
